LA shooting: At least seven people shot at Peck Park after ‘multiple gunmen’ opened fire

According to Travis Rice, a reporter for Fox News in LA, two of the victims of the shooting have died and approximately 500 people were at the scene.

No one is yet in custody.

Mr Rice tweeted: “JUST IN: two killed in shooting at Peck Park in San Pedro.

“Roughly 500 people were at park when it occurred according to LAFD. Seven shooting victims.

“LAPD says they are investigating this as multiple shooters. No one in custody.”

According to officials and witnesses, multiple shooters opened fire at the park injuring at least seven people.

Officers were called at 3:51pm local time on Sunday to attend to an active shooter at the park and officials have now added they believe that it involved multiple gunmen in a gang-related incident.

Spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, Brian Humphrey said that at least four men and three women were shot and taken to nearby hospitals.

He added that at least one of the men and one of the women were in a critical condition and that the incident occurred near a car show at the park.

The Fire Department stated: “At least three of the patients are confirmed to have sustained gunshot injury, including one male and one female, both transported in critical condition.

“There are no other patients remaining at the scene. The incident circumstances, patient demographics, affiliation and precise nature of each patient’s injuries have yet to be confirmed.”

One dispatcher described the incident saying “the whole park is a crime scene” after witnesses described hearing dozens of shots ring out.

No arrests have yet been made and the city has been put on a citywide tactical alert by the LAPD due to the sheer number of officers on scene.

The official Twitter account for the LA Police Department tweeted: “Around 3:50 p.m. Harbor Division officers responded to 911 calls of a shooting with multiple victims at Peck Park.

“NOT an active shooter situation. PIO is enroute.”

According to CBS News, an LAPD officer was spotted performing CPR on a male victim at the scene in San Pedro.

According to LAPD officers at the scene, with the entire park currently being treated as a crime scene, all those present during the shooting are reportedly not allowed to leave until the police can clear them as suspects.

LAPD Captain Kelly Muniz said: “We don’t know how many shooters we have at this point.”

Captain Muniz added that the shooting was a dispute between two parties and weapons have been recovered at the scene.

Officer Garcia said that the park was closed by police and people were directed back to their vehicles to clear the area.

At 6:45 pm local time a number of police officers arrived in body armour and helmets with some carrying rifles.
