Ukraine LIVE: 'Losing control' Putin humiliated as 'weakening' rule exposed in foul rant

Vladimir Putin is “losing control” and his rule over Russia is “weakening”, a professor claimed.

Yale University history professor Timothy Snyder said “important Russians think that Russia is losing” the war in Ukraine and are possibly preparing for a “power struggle after Putin falls”.

Mr Synder points to foul-mouthed outbursts from Putin’s allies including former president Dmitri Medvedev as a sign.

He said: “If Russia loses the war, the people saying radical things now will have protected themselves.

“I’m not convinced Medvedev, who for years was seen as the liberal alternative to Putin, believes the antisemitic, anti-Polish, anti-Western hate speech he publishes on Telegram. He’s creating a profile that might be useful later.”
